Bulgarian Memories of Norwa
8-12.04.2019 Bomlo, Norway
On April 7 three students from ‘Hristo Yassenov’ Comprehensive school, Etropole (Viktoria Petrova, Zhenya Zhivkova and Vasil Tsenkov) travelled to Norway together with teachers Hristina Kalaydzhieva and Diana Tsatsova. Our trip was under the European Erasmus +project "Getting Equipped for Europe". We had a six- day stay on a small island named Bomlo and the opportunity to spend a night in the second largest city in Norway - Bergen.
During the time we were in Bomlo, we students were accommodated in host families who were very friendly, welcoming and made our stay unforgettable. We also attended classes during the week and learned a lot about the school. We saw a presentation on education abroad and heard in detail about what we should do in order to attend a university in Norway. We had a meeting with young businessmen and entrepreneurs who freely told us how and why they created their businesses.
One of the goals of the Norwegian hosts was all the mates to get to know each other and communicate. In the various interactive activities we established friendships with partners from Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Greece and, of course, Norway.
The whole group visited the town of Bergen, where we had the opportunity to see some great Norwegian artists` works. We also did an interesting task, to film a movie on a theme that is directly related to the bustling city along with our partners. And the rest of our short visit we spent walking and enjoying the beautiful city.
On the last night of our stay in Norway, each country had to prepare a traditional dish. We chose to present Bulgaria with a tasty Banitsa prepared with products that we had brought from home. The cultural differences in food were obvious, but it was amazing to get in touch with and experience foreign traditions.
We are incredibly happy to have seen a beautiful, clean and peaceful country from which we can learn a lot. Traveling to Norway has not only been extremely useful for our education, but also a great opportunity to find new friends!

Bulgarian Erasmus+ Memories of Spain
At the beginning of February, 2019, four students from “Hristo Yeassenov” Comprehensive School, Etropole, and two teachers took part in the second LTTA of the “Getting Equipped for Europe” Erasmus + Partnership, in Santa Cruz, Tenerife. The motto of the meeting was “Getting motivated” and the hosts at Anaga School had prepared a very interesting programme for us. We had a great chance to spend a few memorable days together with our Spanish friends and students from other countries.
The first day of our journey was amazing. We met all of the participants for first time and we played games outside in the school yard. We also visited the carnival house and we were happy to try on traditional costumes and feel the emotion of the real carnival. Every day we were in classes of different teachers, met and heard the lectures of successful professionals from local universities. We learnt a lot about breathing regularly, dances, history, science, how important languages are in order to understand other people, their thinking about future and last but not least how to get motivated. On the last morning all the participants were in the main square, divided into 12 teams. The tasks were to find places and monuments which were historically important. We really liked this activity because it was fun and helped us learn more about the island by cooperating with each other.
Through the week we were there we made tours to the historical town of La Laguna and to the Teide- the highest point on the island.
It was an unforgettable experience because no one of us had seen a volcano before. After the trip we went to a beach. That was strange to us because it was the first time we had been to the beach in February. In Bulgaria at this time is winter and as usual we go skiing or snowboarding.
Our host families welcomed us very warmly and made us feel like home. Every day they cooked traditional dishes like paella, special meat, churos, gazpacho and we tried them with pleasure. We loved most of them and when we came back to Bulgaria we made our mums cook them here. The hosts also organized different fun activities for us on the last day of our stay.
The wonderful week in Tenerife ended with a special dinner for all the participants and their teachers on the last night. We were extremely satisfied that we met students from different parts of Europe and were part of the Erasmus+ project.
Now we are really looking forward to seeing our friends from Spain again in March next year and we hope to have a lot of memorable experiences here in Bulgaria.
